Observatory on Infringements of IP rights, Head of Service “IP in the Digital World”, European Intellectual Property Office
Since 1 February 2023, Harrie Temmink is the Head of Service “IP in the Digital World” at the European Union Intellectual Property Office, Observatory on Infringements of IP rights. The responsibilities of the service include the management of the “Out of Commerce Portal” and other copyright issues.
Previously he was deputy Head of Unit at the DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (GROW) of the European Commission. His responsibilities included hazardous chemicals (REACH) and the coordination of enforcement of chemical legislation; Intellectual Property and the Fight Against Counterfeiting; Online Services including e-commerce, intermediaries’ liability and online gambling; Postal and Parcel Services. Harrie also served as a Member of Cabinet of European Commissioner for Consumer Affairs Meglena Kuneva and as a Legal Secretary to the Court of Justice of the European Union. Before joining the EU institutions in 2000, he worked as a lecturer in Public Economic law at the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands) and as an advisor at the Netherlands Competition Authority.
Harrie has a Dutch Law Degree and a Spanish Language and Literature Degree from the University of Utrecht.
